It depends heavily on what guitar you're playing.
You own a PRS like Tremonti ?
I'm also a huge Tremonti fan, along with many other Boogie-ish type of lead (Santana, Andy Timmons, Petrucci)
I guess what I can do is tell you what works for me.
I play an OLP by Ernie Ball MM1, which is an Axis basically from OLP which used to be Music Man's second line.
The body is made of Basswood, the fingerboard and neck Maple.
The axe is loaded with 2 EMG passive pickups, both with Alnico 5 magnet.
I play through a 1x12 Cab, Vintage 60W Speaker from "Snake", a Brazilian manufacturer.
First thing you need to understand is how the ISF works.
It changes the the frequency in which your EQ is centered on.
Turn the Mid all the way down and mess with the ISF you'll get the point.
I believe it changes the gain structure also slightly.
I use the ISF more to the american side, from 9 to 12 oclock.
A good high gain setting I use is
Gain 3 oclock to fully dimed
ISF 9 oclock
Bass about 3 oclock as well
mids on about 9 oclock,
treble 10:30
Volume 12-1 oclock
Is worth noting that the Volume changes the EQ and the way the Overdrive reacts a lot
so you might also wanna mess with it.
If you want to by all means, try this as a starting point, then go from there,
but, really it depends a lot on your guitar and cabinet.
If my settings doesnt work, good old all knobs at 12 oclock should be just fine.
another thing you should try is using a boost or overdrive to kick the amp a little harder,
I know Tremonti uses the T-Rex MAB overdrive, which is really good and not so expensive,
but any good low gain overdrive should work.
Xotic AC / BB, Barber LTD, Mad Professor Sweet Honey / Green Wonder (PCB), MI Audio Blues, Durham Sexdrive
Zvex Super Hard-on, there are countless options.
One good pretty cheap Overdrive people seem to like a lot with the HT-5 is the Hardwire CM-2 Tube Overdrive.
I havent tried tho.
Thats it man, hope it helps, peace.
