PostSubject: Any MODS for the HT1R ?   Mon Jan 16, 2012 12:26 pm

Hi All,
Having owned my HT1R for a couple of months now, which by the way I am quite happy with, but being a tone chaser I would like to know if there are any MODS for the HT1R that anyone has done yet ?

I am going to try a couple of the JJ Electronics Tubes in the near future as I am not a fan of Sovtek tubes - I have tried them in a Tweed Deluxe 5E3 I built some time ago and found the JJ's the best for the tonal qualities I was chasing ... The TAD 12AU7 has already been tossed, as those stupid metal clamps are useless and the TAD tube so weak a crack/chip developed in the top of it where the metal clamp/brace sits on the tube, consequently the tube blew - it has been replaced with a NEW Old Stock (NOS) Toshiba 12AU7A and is performing reasonable well, a little sweeter than with the TAD, but the toshiba will be tested along side of the JJ's 12AU7 while a mandatory change for the Sovtek 12AX7 with a JJ's 12AX7 will be done in the next few weeks.

I have removed the offensive metal clamps as I do not wish to damage any more tubes ...

I have seen somewhere on the net that someone swapped out the Output Transformer on a HT5 with a Hammond 125B OT - with excellent reports...

Does anyone know if a Hammond 125A OT be suitable for the HT1R at all ??? These are a Universal 3w Audio Output transformer - it would be an interesting mod if possible ...

Also, I can't seem to find any Specifications or Schematics for the HT1R on the internet - Does anyone have any that they are willing to share please ?

I will try and post a piccy of the amp and guitar set up as soon as I can get a photo or two sorted - I use a Epiphone Les Paul Special II Guitar I have custom painted along with a home modded cab containing a 12" Eminence Texas Heat speaker ... I have just finished building a Fulltone 69 (clone) Fuzz Pedal using OC72 Germanium transistors and it works a treat - also have a JFET Boost on the bench to be finished soon - In general just having fun with the amp and guitar set up and building a few pedals ...

Cheers to you all - take care and Have Fun with your HT1 / HT1R 1 Watt Blackstar AMP - I certainly am ....
